Navajo Nation Community Library

Requirements for Navajo Nation Community Libraries:

  • Make Community Library terminals available for at least 20 hours a week, library use by the public
  • Provide signage readable and posted around the Chapter House. Also, have information on the Chapter House website regarding the NN Community Library
  • NN Community Library staff member shall receive training regarding library services offered on the computers

Overview

The Navajo Nation Tribal Consortium was established in 2020, representing the Navajo Nation Library and Head Start Center.

In January 2020, we applied for Schools & Libraries funding under the federal agency, USAC (Universal Service Administrative Company). Funding can be used for fiber optics communication lines build out for schools and libraries. Funding can also be used for internet service for schools and libraries.

In April 2021, we received notification that Navajo Nation as awarded $53 million to construct fiber optics communication lines to 83 chapter libraries sites and 53 Head Start centers.
